To identify the primary microbial sources of surgical site infections after transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA), compare the efficacy of perioperative antibiotic strategies, and establish a comprehensive oral management protocol. We analyzed data from patients who underwent TOETVA between March and December 2024. Employing an approach that integrated clinical data with 16S rDNA sequencing, we quantified the bacterial load in postoperative drainage fluid and compared the antibacterial efficacy of cefuroxime versus metronidazole.
