The phylum Bacteroidetes is a proliferating, though underexplored bioresource for natural product discovery. They colonize diverse habitats and are among the most abundant groups of bacteria within marine ecosystems. Aimed at accessing new Bacteroidetes, strains PAP.12 and PAP.19 were isolated from Cenderawasih Bay National Park, Papua, Indonesia and rate for their specialized metabolite production capacity.
