Oral microbiome and treatment response in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients

This project investigates the relationship between the oral microbiota and treatment efficacy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Tongue coating samples were collected from patients at the time of initial consultation before surgery. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, we analyzed the alpha diversity and taxonomic composition of the oral microbiome and examined their correlation with pathological response to preoperative treatment. The findings suggest that the oral microbiota profile may influence or reflect treatment outcomes, and this research may contribute to developing predictive biomarkers for therapeutic efficacy.
