Pipes

Storm water pipes are generally concrete gravity pipes. In areas with high water tables, special joints are used on the pipes or alternative watertight pipe materials are utilized. Force mains are pressurized pipes that are used to convey storm water from low points to either a receiving body or gravity drainage system that is located at a higher elevation. Culverts are used to convey water under roads and driveways in an open channel or ditch network. NOTE: ArcGIS software graphically denotes direction of linear features by flagging the entity with a directional arrow (switch direction by using the “flip” command in ArcGIS). The order of the vertices determines the direction.
