A genomic epidemiological study of an outbreak from a hospital in Riyadh

In this study, we analyzed the genomes of 23 C. auris isolates from 20 patients in 2019, representing one of the largest recent outbreaks in the Middle East at a hospital in Riyadh. Using a SNP-based phylogenomic tracking analysis combined with hospital clinical records data, we provide evidence that there are multiple introductions of C. auris to Saudi Arabia that resulted in subsequent local nosocomial transmissions within a hospital setting.
