Dynamics of bacterial colonisation on sugarcane bagasse in bovine rumen fluid

Sugarcane bagasse is a low-quality but abundant source of fodder for ruminant livestock. Understanding the degradation and bacterial colonisation of sugarcane bagasse in the rumen is central to improve the fodder use efficiency in ruminants. In this study, sugarcane bagasse was fermented in bovine rumen fluid in vitro and the kinetics of dry matter, neutral detergent fibre, and acid detergent fibre digestion were determined.
