The fate of microfibers released during home laundering of cellulose-based and synthetic fabrics in aquatic and environments was evaluated using spun yarns (< 5 mm). Besides, the interaction with the microbial communities of the inoculums used for these experiments (lake and seawater, and activated sludge from the local WWTP) was assessed.
