Die Instrumente bestehen besonders in Trommeln verschiedener Grösse und Form, auf welche man mit Hacken ähnlichen Stäben schlägt. Die Haupttrommel, die auf dem Marsche auf dem Kopfe getragen wird, ist mit Menschenschädeln geschmückt. Every chief has his band. The instruments are mostly drums of different sizes and shapes which they beat with drum-sticks shaped like mattocks. Two horn-blowers, right and left, are holding up hollowed-out elephant tusks, which are decorated with the jaw-bones of enemies." - The French version adds that the two persons with gold plates on their chests are "souls" of the Chief.
