Supporting data and images for the manuscript Corbetta, E, et al., 'An Optical Microscopy Simulator for automated generation of synthetic samples and image degradations' (2026, submitted).
The data folder contains the datasets used for the images in the paper, organized according to figures.
The folder contain:
json files with sample and degradation parameters. They can be uploaded in the repository in the data subfolder to generate datasets with the notebooks.
samples folder: clean images, either high-quality simulated samples or high-quality experimental images to be degraded. Example notebooks create this folder during sample generation and use its content when adding artifacts to clean images.
degradations folder: images degraded with custom artifacts.
experimental folder: original experimental images with real degradations (for out-of-focus, noisy, and high-vs-low resolution datasets)
metadata xlsx files: files saved by the notebooks during sample and artifacts simulation. They report the parameters for each generated image.
Experimental images are taken from open-source datasets of previous publications [2-4].
