Temporal and spatial co-occurrence of Pacific oyster mortality and increased planktonic Vibrio abundance

Oyster farming is plagued by oyster mortality and human food poisoning events linked to opportunistic pathogens from the Vibrio genus. However, the link among these events, planktonic bacterial dynamics and environmental variables has not yet been resolved. We found V. harveyi and V. parahaemolyticus exhibited seasonal abundance, peaking during the summer months.
