A comparison is made between the genomes of S. mutans, serotype c, that come from carious initial and advanced lesions, and those free of caries. The reference strain UA159 is used. In this study, the type of variability between two strains from carious initial (White spot) and advanced lesions (cavitated lesion) from the same schoolchild, oral niche, upper right molar, was determined.
