We performed deep whole genome sequencing on 53 RSV samples (37 RSV subgroup A and 16 RSV subgroup B) directly isolated from clinical specimens of children hospitalized during two consecutive seasons (May 2009 and December 2010), in the two largest pediatric referral hospitals in southern Viet Nam on the Illumina platform. Samples were first reverse transcribed and then PCR amplified into 11 overlapping segments and sequenced on the Ilumina GenomeAnalyzer IIx
