Muscle glucocorticoid receptor (GR) signaling regulates gene expressions in skeletal muscle and promotes protein catabolism. To reveal the roles of muscle GR in systemic metabolism, corticosterone was chronically administered to GR-floxed (GRf/f) or muscle-specific GR knockout (GRmKO) mice, and metabolic changes were analyzed. Overall design: The drinking water of 8-week-old GRf/f or GRmKO male mice was replaced with a 1% ethanol solution containing 100 µg/mL CORT or a vehicle. After 4-week treatment, gastrocnemius muscle, liver, and gonadal white adipose tissue were excised and analyzed. We used pooled RNA samples (n = 3).
