Chinese Tech Companies Investments Dataset 1999-2024

The dataset compiles investment and acquisition records from three financial data platforms — Tianyancha, IT Juzi, and Crunchbase — for eight Chinese technology firms: Alibaba, Baidu, ByteDance, Huawei, JD, Meituan, Tencent, and Xiaomi, covering the period from 1999 to 2024. Each row represents a unique investment or acquisition involving one of the companies of interest. If multiple companies from this set participated in the same financing round, each may appear as a separate entry, depending on how the event was recorded in the source platforms. Reported amounts reflect the total capital raised in the financing round, which may include contributions from subsidiaries, private investors, or other participants, rather than the portion attributable to the individual company. The dataset provides a foundation for analyzing the global expansion of major Chinese technology firms, their investment patterns, and sectoral or geographic focus. It can support research on digital globalization, corporate strategy, and the internationalization of Chinese tech.
