Cell-types (cortical resin ducts (CRD) epithelial cells, cortex polyphenolic (CP) cells and phloem (Phlo) cells were isolated by laser microdissection from bark tissue in White spruce trees treated with methyl jasmonate or tween (control). RNA extraction and RNA sequencing was performed with isolated cell-types for transcriptome analysis. Gene expression and annotation of transcripts was done to study the defense response in white spruce trees at the cell-type specific level.
