MicroRNAs as predictors for postoperative outcome in patients with limited stage neuroendocrine carcinoma of the esophagus

Microarray analysis of 2630 miRNAs in 11 patients with sufficient quality RNA in pared tumor/normal specimens identified miRNAs that were differentially expressed between the patients with (n=6) and without (n=5) postoperative tumor relapse. The FFPE samples of the tumors (T) and their normal counterparts (N) were obtained for each case, sections (100 μm) were prepared, and total RNA was extracted. Extracted RNA samples were labeled and hybridized to a 3D-Gene Human miRNA Oligo chip (Toray Industries Inc., Tokyo, Japan) mounted with 2632 genes.
