A patient with recurrent urinary tract infection complained of cystitis symptoms during a gynecological examination. Escherichia coli NOC707-22 was isolated from urine The routine screening for colistin resistance accompanying the susceptibility testing revealed that the strain had an IRT phenotype and was resistant to colistin (MIC, 8mg/L). PCR for plasmid-mediated colistin resistance genes detected the presence of mcr-1 and further confirmed by WGS.
