Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum), also known as Tibetan spinach, is a member of the Polygonaceae family and a herbaceous plant in the Caryophyllales order. It is an annual plant that originated in China and has been used for both medicinal and food purposes for centuries. This grain is highly valued for its balanced nutrition and rich content of flavonoids. Tartary buckwheat is primarily found in the southwestern regions of China, as well as in northern India, Bhutan, and Nepal. Due to its characteristics of being tolerant to poor soil and cold temperatures, it is widely cultivated in cool mountainous areas and is a beloved cereal crop among the local populations.
