The metagenome of this symbiont was isolated from trophosome tissue of the deep-sea tubeworm Tevnia jerichonana. The host species originated from Tica vent at 9°50' N East Pacific Rise. This is the first published genome sequence of the Tevnia symbiont, which allowed for a detailed physiological description and also for genomic comparison with the Riftia symbiont.
