RNA sequencing of U-2 OS and U-2 OS hTERT GFP

The gene hTERT codes for the protein, human telomerase reverse transcriptase. This protein is involved in maintaining the telomere length and cell proliferation. The reactivation of the protein also plays a key role in maintaining the chromosome ends and enabling the cancer cells for unlimited division. Therefore, it is the specific target for cancer therapy. Osteosarcoma cell line U-2 OS are independent of the reactivation of telomerase and follow alternate mechanisms of telomere maintenance. In order to understand in detail, the effects of overexpression of telomerase in U-2 OS, we over-expressed hTERT-GFP and carried out RNA sequencing using the Illumina platform.
