Genome sequencing of fungi from Aspergillus section flavi

Fungi from Aspergillus section Flavi are important as either producers of mycotoxins including aflatoxins, cyclopiazonic acid, ochratoxins and kojic acid, or as food fermentation strains. Genome sequence data from selected strains will provide a resource for analysis of mycotoxin production, comparative genomics between mycotoxin producing strains and food fermentation strains, and the catabolic potential of within Aspergillus section Flavi. The functional and ecological implications of these analyses will have significant impacts on the management of mycotoxin contamination of crops.
