The Public Schools Mount Kembla and General Accident Relief Fund was formed at a meeting of public school teachers on 9 August 1902, to help the victims of the Mount Kembla mining disaster of 31 July 1902. Funds were raised by the New South Wales public schools, by contributions on the part of teachers and pupils, and by proceeds of entertainment, for the Mount Kembla Miners' General Accident and Martinique Relief Funds. The Public Schools Funds were administered and disbursed by the Trustees of the Relief Fund and the Minister of Public Instruction. In September 1914 the proceeds of the Fund were handed over to the Trustees of the National Relief Fund, and the Public Schools Relief Fund closed. The series includes a minute book containing minutes of the meetings of the Trustees from 9 August 1902 to 21 September 1914, letters received by the Trustees, two cheque books, bank statements, reports of the Executive Committee of the Fund, lists of subscribers to the Fund, and accounts.
