This article examines the pedagogical and methodological foundations of using folklore materials in reading literacy lessons. The study analyzes the role of proverbs, riddles, fairy tales, and tongue twisters in developing primary school students’ reading competencies. It also demonstrates the effectiveness of lessons organized around folklore materials in developing students’ independent thinking, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and communicative competencies.
