Raw sequence reads from multiple individuals from all species in the genus Dioon Lindl.. Dioon Lindl. (Zamiaceae)

This study utilized transcriptome and targeted locus sequencing across multiple individuals from every species in the cycad genus Dioon to estimate the phylogeny and divergence times of this clade. These analyses were used to test a hypothesis of rapid and recent speciation in this ancient lineage of seed plants due to migration during Pleistocene climate change. Our hypothesis is an alternative to previous hypotheses for the evolutionary history of Dioon that invoke much older divergences and Miocene processes, such as uplift of the main mountain chains in Mexico.
