Lipid profiles from fresh biofilms along a temperature gradient at the El Tatio (Chilean Andes) hydrothermal area as a proxy for interpreting current and past biomarkes in other planetary analogues

The aim of this study is to interpret biosignatures in modern hydrothermal systems to learn to decipher fossil records in ancient silica deposits. For that, lipid biomarkers (molecular and isotopic) were calibrated with the microbial community information provided by high-throughput sequencing of SSU rRNA genes (bacteria, archaea, eukaryotes, as well as specific of cyanobacteria)
