Photograph (streetscape; horizontal photography) of the exterior of the First Congregational Church on the southwest corner of Hill Street and Sixth Street, ca.1900. The wood and brick structure has three roof peaks along the side of the main structure. Under each peak are rows of arched windows. A circular stained-glass window is directly under the eave of the shortest peak. A round tower with pointed turret on top is attached to the right side of the main structure. A horse and carriage is parked in front at right. A pedestrian is visible behind it. Adjacent houses are visible at the periphery of the photograph.; "2 lots bought 1889 for $52,000, sold in 1905 with church building for $76,000. Sold in 5 years for $300,000. T.J. Jones Co."; "The southwest corner of Sixth and Hill streets was sold yesterday by the Congregational Church to a local realty firm for the new high price of $415,000 a rate of $2,766 per front Hill Street foot." -- Newspaper clipping (Express (14 November 1906)).
