Historical maps UGOT

This dataset contains historical GIS material for the Swedish BIOTraCes case-study areas of Istorp and Ambjörnarp. The dataset includes georeferenced historical map material and digitised land-use data derived from selected nineteenth-century Swedish historical maps. For Ambjörnarp, the dataset includes the General Staff Map (Generalstabskartan) from 1886 and a shapefile containing digitised land-use categories based on that map. For Istorp, the dataset includes the General Staff Map from 1872, the Härad Economic Map (Häradsekonomiska kartan) from 1890, and a shapefile containing digitised land-use categories based on the 1890 map. The data were used as historical reference points in the BIOTraCes case-study analysis. They support comparison between historical and contemporary landscape conditions and provide a basis for understanding how land use, forest cover, and landscape composition have changed over time in the studied areas. The dataset is intended as supporting spatial material for contextual and historical landscape analysis. The digitised shapefiles should be interpreted as derived representations of historical map information, subject to the spatial accuracy, classification conventions, and cartographic limitations of the original historical sources.
