Single-organism multimodal characterisation of eukaryotic plankton with Ukiyo-e-Seq

We used single-cell sequencing data and imaging to investigate Eukaryotic plankton from environmental marine samples collected from Coogee, NSW, Australia. Overall design: Water was collected from the ocean, filtered and centrifuged to remove particles larger 1mm and smaller than 25um. A microscope-mounted cell picker was then used to image an organism in the sample and then transfer it to a well of a microtiter plate. Organisms were then analysed using single-cell rna seq.
