English language instruction in Thailand is difficult due to limited possibilities for students to use the language outside of the classroom. Students' belief that English is only for exams intensifies these issues. Teaching English in Thailand is difficult since students cannot practise outside of class, and others assume English is mainly for testing. Also, the perceived complexity of the grammar discourages students from learning it. The purpose of this study is to analyse the efficacy of gamification in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Moreover, students’ perspectives on using gamification to teach grammar must be better understood. The results of the posttest demonstrated a significant enhancement in the participants' performance in English grammar when the use of gamification was implemented into the English grammar lessons. The individual feedback encompassed a range of perspectives regarding the gamification intervention, including both positive and negative aspects. These viewpoints highlighted various factors, such as the enjoyment, engagement, and excitement experienced during the use of gamification, as well as the possibility of stressfulness when utilising gamification. Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of gamification will allow for more effective implementation in Thai English language classrooms.
