Manuscript in pencil in Ivor Gurney's hand. A copy of this draft was transcribed by Gurney into the black manuscript notebook 64.5.6 and Dated 'August 1918'. It was also transcribed by Gurney into a letter of 27th August 1918 to Marion Scott, where Gurney wrote 'Which is one of my best things - to the author's mind, at any rate'. Also included in 'War's Embers' (1919). Written while Gurney was a patient at the Middlesex War Hospital. Found in a small green notebook used during July-August 1918.
