The rhizosphere and rhizoplane bacterial communities associated with a variety of Triticum species as well as wild grass Aegilops species were profiled, by 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. Plants were grown in previously characterised bare fallow agricultural soil in pots in a controlled environment. All plants were grown both with and without NPK granular fertilizer.
