FIG 2 Polyphosphate protects E. coli against nickel-dependent HOSCN sensitization. E. coli strains MG1655 (wild-type), MJG0224 (MG1655 ∆ppk-749), and MJG0315 (MG1655 ∆ppx-750) were grown in MOPS minimal medium without micronutrients containing 0.2% glucose and 0.1% casamino acids, supplemented with 500 µM NiSO4 and/or 400 µM HOSCN, as indicated, incubating at 37°C with shaking and measuring A600 at 30-minute intervals for 24 hours (n=3 experimental replicates, with 4 technical replicates per experiment; error bars of 1 standard deviation).
