Baidu Index Time-Series Data Supporting “Conservation Culturomics Reveals Public Concern on Harmful Species Amid Extinction Events: Evidence from the Dugong in China”

This dataset provides daily Baidu Index values for selected Chinese search terms related to extinction, dugongs, other threatened or extinct species, and harmful species. The time series covers the period from 5 July to 5 October 2022. These data support the analysis of temporal changes in public online attention during the extinction-related media event concerning the functional extinction of dugongs in China. The dataset includes search index values for general extinction-related terms and multiple species, including dugong, baiji, Chinese paddlefish, mosquito, cockroach, Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin, and sperm whale.
