Irwin Smith is at the oars. Also dated "11/18/37". "Capturing a sea elephant for the San Diego Zoo: Baby goes for ride -- Baby sea elephants, weighing perhaps 900 pounds, are netted and roled into a boat, to be transported through boiling surf by a daring oarsman and finally lifted aboard the diesel-powered [launch]."
