UK girls and women on negative online encounters 2013-2023

Between 2013 and 2023, the share of girls and women in the United Kingdom (UK) aged between 11 and 21 years who have experienced unkind comments about them online has increased from 40 percent to 51 percent. In 2013, 17 percent of respondents reported being sent upsetting content by people they knew, compared to 37 percent in 2023.
