Transcriptome characterization of embryogenesis at a single cell resolution [C. elegans]

By collecting and processing individual embryonic cells from sequentially older embryos we have generated the first single cell transcriptome dataset describing embryogenesis from the fertilizaed zygote through to the penultimate cell division for most founder cell lines. Embryos from approximately the first 450 minutes of embryonic development were collected. Individual embryos were dissociated manually and single cells were collected for processing. Each cell was barcoded, and samples were multiplexed into a single sequencing library for each embryo processed.
