VPRS 1150 Day Book

The first two volumes of this series consist of a continuing Day Book as created and Maintained by the Roads and Bridges Branch of the Public Works Department. Entries are initially identified by the Division of the Annual Estimates under which a project was funded. Under the section for Particulars are given the designated name for the project or the charge (such as Travelling Expenses) and the details of the expenditure incurred. This expenditure related to contract instalments, payments to casual workers, for equipment and tools and for such things as cartage. Amounts for both the individual item and the cumulative expenditure are given. Entries are made in chronological order.The third volume, is a rough pay summary volume used primarily in relation to drainage and land reclamation projects. A considerable section lists for each pay period the names of workers, their occupations, the drain and its location, the number of chains, the rate of payment and the amount of payment. Other records in the volume relate to the recording of the partial or final completion of contracts for the construction of earthworks related to these projects and the payment due details.
