ANALYSIS OF THE DENOMINATIONAL VARIATION OF 20 ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL TERMS IN

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the word variation of 20 terms in the economic section of the Spanish general newspaper El País digital between 2008 and 2010. The theoretical framework is based on the Communicative Theory of Terminology (TCT) (CABRÉ CASTELLVÍ, 1999, 2003 & 2005), since the terms are examined in texts where there are cases of word variation, in a communicative situation of issuer-journalist specialized in economy and lay-public. The methodology links descriptive terminology to corpus linguistics, because the terms are studied in the situational and social context in which they move, extracting from a corpus exploited by a program of textual analysis.
