Towards the Future of Electric Vehicle Charging: Design of Integrated Charging System in Urban Areas

Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming central to creating cleaner and more sustainable cities, yet their rapid growth poses major challenges for charging systems. This thesis develops an integrated framework for building smarter and more flexible urban charging networks. It investigates how driver behavior shapes the use of charging stations, explores the potential of mobile charging services to complement existing networks, and proposes shared charging schemes for buses and on-demand transit. The findings offer practical guidance for policymakers and service providers to deliver efficient, resilient, and user-friendly charging systems that advance transport electrification.
