Operando XRD investigation of high entropy cathodes for Na-ion batteries

We recently developed a novel high entropy oxide (HEO) cathodes for Na-ion batteries with composition Na0.55(Fe0.2Mn0.2Ni0.2Co0.2Ti0.2)O2 characterized by a coarse microstructure which exhibits high specific capacity (~180 mAh g⁻¹ at 0.08 C), excellent rate capability (69% retention after 300 cycles at 1C), and high coulombic efficiency (>99.5%)
In the previous high resolution XRD investigation, we demonstrated the feasibility of the experiment with interesting preliminary results, but we could not conclude a full charge/discharge process because of radiation damage to some cell components. We propose to replicate the previous experiment at the ID22 beamline using a 2D detector rather than crystal analyzers, reducing sample exposure still guaranteeing high signal and good resolution.
