Whole-genome sequencing of strains that received part of chromosome 14 through horizontal transfer

We sequenced three strains that were resulted from horizontal chromosome transfer (HCT) experiments (DOI: 10.1111/1462-2920.15095). Three HCT strains, including HCT_loss_of_GFP#8-2, HCT_loss_of_GFP#26-1, HCT_loss_of_GFP#29-2, were obtained by co-incubating donor strains loss_of_GFP#8, loss_of_GFP#26 and loss_of_GFP#29 and a recipient strain Fo47, respectively. The three donor strains carry a phleomycin resistance gene (BLE, confers resistance against zeocin) inserted in chromosome 14, inside of the FOXG_14135 ORF, while the recipient strain Fo47 carrys a hygromycin (HYG) resistance gene, inserted randomly into the genome. HCT was confirmed using PCR and CHEF-gel analysis. All three HCT strains showed distinct karyotypes. We sequenced these strains for confirming HCT and determining sequences that were transferred.
