Determining the star formation efficiency in shock-induced star-forming regions

The passage of an ionization front trough a dense molecular cloud can triggerstar formation in the region. The efficiency of the mechanism of star formationis found to be on the order of a few percents in some giant molecular clouds,but very little is known about the star formation efficiency and lifetimes ofshockinduced starforming regions. We propose to observe the cometary cloudLynds 1622, where star formation has been likely induced by the interaction ofthe cloud with the Ori OB1 Association ionization front.
