Video data of oil sampling obtained from remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operated aboard R/V Point Sur cruise PS19_14 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2019-01-28 to 2019-01-29

This dataset contains video data obtained from the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operated aboard the R/V Point Sur cruise PS19_14 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2019-01-28 to 2019-01-29. During a cruise to GC-600 (a natural oil seep in the Gulf of Mexico) in January 2019 aboard the RV Point Sur, the ROV Odysseus (Pelagic Research Services) was used to collect hydrocarbons discharging from the seabed at MegaPlume. The ROV recorded continuous video of each dive (a total of 2 dives). Video feeds include a high-definition camera as supplied by the ROV team. The oil samples collected were later used in a series of destructive incubation experiments to investigate the release of radium isotopes to waters as a function of hydrocarbon degradation. The dataset includes videos including the date, location (latitudes and longitudes), and depth of sample collection.
