Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition is a complex process that occurs in development and cancer metastasis. We show that EMT plasticity occurs in cancer cells when co-culture with fibroblasts. We used microarrays to detail the global program of gene expression in the H69 small-cell lung carcinoma line when in direct contact with CCD8 fibroblasts. Overall design: H69 and CCD8 cells from control (CT), indirect (INS), and direct (MIX) contact were sorted for RNA extraction and hybridization on Affymetrix microarrays. All samples were collected from one time-point (72h).
