Experimental dataset of functional mobility kinematics and associated cognitive demand under varying visual and cognitive load conditions in individuals with visual impairment and sighted counterparts

The present dataset is associated with the manuscript entitled \"Adults with visual impairment show distinct kinematic and cognitive load patterns during demanding functional mobility tasks compared with sighted controls\". This study investigated the effects of modifying visual and cognitive demands on functional mobility kinematics and perceived cognitive load in adults with visual impairment compared with sighted controls. The study gathered data concerning kinematic variables derived from the inertial sensor of a smartphone, in conjunction with the assessment of perceived cognitive load employing a version of the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) adapted to individuals with visual impairment.
