This project aims to improve disease resistance in wheat through three strategies: increasing the copy number of the Lr34 gene, which provides adult plant resistance and broad-spectrum protection against leaf rust, stem rust, stripe rust, and powdery mildew; editing specific sites in the promoter region of the Lr34 promoter to enhance its expression; and identifying and knocking down wheat susceptibility genes to strengthen resistance to rust pathogens.
