资源简介:
Daily notes, recording the main events of a government prospecting expedition in the Hillgrove-Woolomumbi region, by the leader of the party, J.R. Tassell. He describes the movements of the party, details of the samples taken and methods used to procure them as well as the results of sample tests on location. Topographical features and geological formations of the country visited are also recorded. The expedition was searching for any type of mineral, and several samples were given to Samuel Matthews, the Mining Registrar at Hillgrove, to be forwarded to the Department of Mines for assay. At Hillgrove the party also made contact with the Warden, Charles Edward Smith, to whom the diary notes appear to be addressed, and also with George Nix, the bailiff of the Warden's Court, who paid Tassell and his party. (4/5502). 1 vol. Note: This description is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
