Relationship of respondent to the infant, infant sleep attributes, including positioning, location, room temperature, bedding, and bedclothes, pacifier use, source of recommendations about sleep position, including broadcast and print media, demographics of mother and/or other nighttime caregiver, caregiver's knowledge of U.S. Public Health Service "Back to Sleep" campaign, and information on sleep practices from the previous night and previous two weeks; includes data from a national sample and a lower education oversample Study Description National observational study to examine infant sleep practices and factors associated with adherence to the American Academy of Pediatrics back-to-sleep recommendations and related infant care practices. Nighttime caregivers of infants less than eight months of age were surveyed during 1992 to 2010 about their infant's sleep position, reasons for their choice of sleep position, specific sources of sleep position recommendations, and other practices, such as bed sharing, bedding used, and use of pacifiers. Nighttime infant caregivers; population described below are those who completed the household survey
