Rhine River Macrolitter Dataset 09/2022 - 01/2024

The dataset comprises an excel document with six sheets and three Jupyter Notebooks. The excel document is required to run the code. It contains the raw data of macrolitter collected at the river Rhine using a litter trap run by the Kölner Rhein-Aufräum-Kommando-Einheit (K.R.A.K.E. e.V.). The excel sheet "LT ML Data" contains data collected by volunteers around the K.R.A.K.E. e.V. - https://krake.koeln/. The data were collected through biweekly sampling from September 2022 to January 2024 in the River Rhine in Cologne, Germany (50°57'22.2"N, 6°58'31.6"E, 50668) at river kilometre 690.3. The LT was developed, and is run by the local non-governmental organisation K.R.A.K.E Kölner Rhein-Aufräum-Kommando-Einheit e.V.Its purpose is to collect litter from the Rhine, raise awareness and involve the local community, and track macrolitter (ML).The LT catches macrolitter based on physical interception.
