Transcriptomic Response of Human Skeletal Muscle to Exercise with NSAID or Placebo Treatment, Aug 13 '25

This study investigates how non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) influence gene expression in human skeletal muscle following acute plyometric exercise. Twelve healthy adults completed exercise trials after consuming ibuprofen, celecoxib, flurbiprofen, or placebo. Vastus lateralis muscle biopsies were collected before drug administration and three hours after exercise, and RNA sequencing was performed to profile the transcriptome. This dataset enables exploration of drug-specific and shared molecular pathways involved in immune regulation, muscle remodeling, metabolism, and neuronal signaling during early recovery from exercise.
